Grant Glacier lies in northwestern Montana within Flathead National Forest, in a cirque below the east slopes of Mount Grant. The mountain rises to 8,590 feet, and the glacier sits about 1 mile southeast of Stanton Glacier and roughly 5 miles west of Glacier National Park. Its significance lies partly in the documented record of its physical change: photographs taken in 1902 and repeated from the same vantage point in 1998 show that the glacier retreated substantially during the 20th century. It stands as one of many mountain glaciers in the region whose recent history is marked by visible ice loss.
