Harry Raymond McPherson was the first president of the first Preble County Historical Society when it was formed in 1921. He acquired the acreage for Fort St. Clair from local farmers and completed numerous archaeological digs including nearby Fort Jefferson. He also published and mechanically set up the Eldorado Bee and the New Paris Mirror respectively. He spent the remainder of his career creating and maintaining countless archaeological and museological societies throughout the country.
