Bell House housed nine generations of the same family. In Minisink Village, white men and Indians lived together. Minisink Island lies in the river to the west. Westbrook Fort stood in the rear of the barn during the French and Indian War. Ennis House, one-half mile south, was the home of the first school teacher in Sussex County. Normanock Fort, one mile south, also dates to the French and Indian War.
