Armand Montz Sr. (1887–1968) built an ice and packing plant in 1914 and remodeled it in the 1930s. The plant packed and shipped vegetables to various parts of the U.S., and Montz was a pioneer in the frozen food industry. His plant was an important factor in the local economy.
