Captured at age eighteen months in the Elm Creek Raid in North Texas in fall 1864, Millie Durgan was adopted by the Kiowa tribe and married a Kiowa named Goombi. Her true identity was not known until three years before her death in 1934. She was buried in the Old Rainy Mt. Cemetery southwest of Mountain View, Oklahoma.
