Great Plains State Park in southwestern Oklahoma lies near Mountain Park, south of Hobart along Highway 183, between the Wichita Mountains and Tom Steed Reservoir. Covering more than 1,200 acres, it combines open plains, lakeshore access, and mountain views, with a developed area of about 487 acres for campers and hikers. Recreation centers on the reservoir’s 31 miles of shoreline, supporting boating, water sports, and a swimming beach. The park also offers boat ramps, picnic areas, a playground, and trails for hiking, cycling, and mountain biking. Its large campground includes RV hookups and tent sites, and since June 15, 2020, entrance fees have helped support maintenance and improvements.
