The Dundee Passenger Depot, built circa 1912, was the first depot on the Haines City to Sebring line of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, and much of Dundee’s early growth was tied to the railroad. With the arrival of the line, the Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Highland Development Company brought settlers from the Midwest and refunded their fares when they bought land. Dundee and the railroad prospered together, and hotels and rooming houses were built for prospective buyers and others seeking a place in the Florida sun. The station was segregated from 1912 to 1954. Passenger service ended circa 1954, but the depot continued handling freight until circa 1975, when the line was discontinued.
