The Kennett Tavern is the oldest remaining commercial building in Kentucky reflecting Federal and Georgian style architecture. Built along the Old Revolutionary War Road during the Thomas Jefferson administration, it served as a tavern and hotel that housed both Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War. Today it serves as Falmouth’s City Hall and is one of the few buildings in America historically eligible to display the 15 Star American Flag, known as the Star Spangled Banner. The building was saved from possible destruction through the combined efforts of many individuals, particularly Terry England, and its restoration project was funded through the efforts of Brereton Jones, Paul Patton, James Codell, David Morgan, Joseph Argabrite Jr., Patrick Kennedy, Ken Pallsin, Patriot Construction Co., and others.
