Nature
Grass Mountain is a 3,607-foot peak in Oregon’s Central Coast Range and the second-highest mountain in that section of the range. In Benton County, it rises above the heavily forested landscape typical of the central Oregon Coast mountains. Its summit once served as an important vantage point over surrounding timberlands, with a 40-foot fire lookout tower built there by the Oregon Department of Forestry in 1935. The tower was later decommissioned and dismantled in 1968, but its presence remains a notable part of the mountain’s history.
