E. Olin Soule arrived in Iowa Falls in 1864. Although he was a druggist, he quickly began working for the railroads and served in various roles from brakeman to passenger train ticket agent. He was also an accomplished ball player, directed the town band, and served as fire chief. In 1922, the Illinois Central Railroad placed the tree and plaque here.
