Three American Revolutionary War soldiers who later lived and died in Livonia were David Dean, Salmon Kingsley, and Jeremiah Klumph. David Dean was born in 1763, enlisted in the New York militia in 1778, settled in Livonia around 1836, and died there in 1838. Salmon Kingsley, a native of Connecticut born in 1755, belonged to a company of minutemen who aided in the defense of Boston, came to Livonia in 1825, and died two years later. Jeremiah Klumph, born in New York about 1763, was a messenger in Washington's army and lived in Livonia from 1836 until his death in 1855. They were among the many Revolutionary veterans who journeyed west with their families and settled in this area.
