Lake Trahlyta Spillway, also known as Trahlyta Falls, is a waterfall in Vogel State Park in Union County, Georgia, where water drops about 60 feet beside the dam that creates Lake Trahlyta. The lake was named for Trahlyta, a Cherokee maiden traditionally said to be buried nearby at Stonepile Gap. The dam, also called the Vogel State Park Lake Dam or Lake Trahlyta Dam, extends about 600 feet and includes a 52-foot earthen embankment constructed in the 1930s. Together, the dam and spillway form one of the park’s notable scenic features, blending a man-made structure with the look of a natural waterfall.
