Swiss Pines is a nineteen-acre arboretum and Japanese garden on Charlestown Road in Malvern, Pennsylvania, created over several decades within a larger former estate. Arnold Bartschi, a Swiss-born businessman and owner of the J. Edwards Shoe Company, bought two hundred acres of the former Llewellyn estate in 1957 and developed the landscape for the next thirty years. A nonprofit foundation established in 1960 gave the project a formal structure. Its notable features include a Japanese tea house and garden, stonework, statuary, streams, a lake, lanterns, bridges, and extensive plant collections. After closing in 2013, the property passed to Charlestown Township in 2023 for restoration and eventual public use.
