Adelaide Peak is a 7,300-foot summit in Washington’s Olympic Mountains, within Olympic National Park and the Daniel J. Evans Wilderness, and part of the rugged Needles subrange. Its steep relief rises sharply above Royal Creek, and its runoff drains both east to Royal Creek and west to the Gray Wolf River within the Dungeness basin. Though in the Pacific Northwest’s marine west coast climate, it lies in the Olympic rain shadow and is drier than the wetter western range. First climbed in 1944 by Adel and William Degenhardt, it was named for Adelaide Degenhardt, but the name has never been officially adopted on U.S. government maps.
