The Emlenton Milling Company, built in 1875 by James Bennett and his brother-in-law Albert Cochran, operated under various ownerships until 1974. Originally powered by steam, the mill underwent many changes over the years while continuing to supply the area with quality flours. Today the building houses quality antiques and a cafe, and most of the milling equipment remains intact and can be viewed. The Roschy Carriage Works, started in 1879, stood around the corner of Main and 3rd Streets. Fred Roschy sold and repaired wagons, sleighs, and bobsleds there, later adapting the shop to serve the growing timber business until the 1940s. The building was leveled in 1998.
