Founded in 1968 in Manchester, Vermont, this special-interest museum is devoted to the history of American angling and to preserving fly fishing as an important part of American culture. Its collections trace the sport, craft, art form, and industry of fly fishing in the United States and beyond, with materials dating to the 16th century. Among thousands of objects are rods, reels, flies, tackle, art, photographs, manuscripts, and books, including the oldest documented flies in the world. It has also contributed scholarship through The American Fly Fisher since 1974 and is recognized through national museum accreditation.
