George Eskridge, born in Virginia in 1763, served in the Revolutionary War after enlisting in the Virginia Continental line at an early age. Around 1811 he came to Kentucky and settled in Grayson County, where he built a log house at Falls of Rough River and established a ferry that connected a road known as Eskridge Ferry Road. He died in 1827.
