Paul D. Knowlton of HHC 4 Trans. Co, born June 2, 1947, and Robert E. Moore of Com 7 Mar I Mar Div, born February 16 1948, were two young boys who had played on these fields, then answered their country’s call, became men overnight, and lost their lives defending freedom in the Vietnam War, Knowlton on February 24, 1968, and Moore on November 2, 1967.
