Mount Hoffmann is a prominent peak near the center of Yosemite National Park in California, rising above May Lake in the park’s high country. Known as one of the more accessible summit hikes in this part of Yosemite, it can be reached by a day hike of about 6.2 miles one way from Tioga Pass Road. The mountain is named for Charles F. Hoffmann, a cartographer with the California Geological Survey of the Sierra Nevada, linking the peak to nineteenth-century efforts to survey and map California’s mountains. It remains an important Yosemite landmark and a notable part of the park’s alpine landscape.
