Mount Pisgah
Nature
Mount Pisgah, a 5,721-foot peak in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge near Asheville, is one of the most prominent mountains along this section of the Blue Ridge Parkway and a popular high-elevation destination. A moderate 1.6-mile trail from milepost 407 leads to the summit, near the Pisgah Inn, campground, picnic area, Buck Spring trailhead, and the remains of George Vanderbilt’s hunting lodge. Its crest also carries the WLOS broadcast tower, whose height makes it a major source of television and weather signals across the western Carolinas. The mountain combines scenic recreation, regional folklore, and an unusually visible role in communications infrastructure.
