Shimanek Bridge is a covered road bridge over Thomas Creek about 2 miles east of Scio, Oregon, carrying Richardson Gap Road through a rural valley. Completed in 1966, the 130-foot bridge replaced a 1927 covered bridge at the same crossing after the earlier structure was badly damaged in the Columbus Day Storm of 1962. It is the fifth known bridge on this site, where the first likely dated to 1861, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The longest covered bridge in Linn County and also its newest, it has undergone repeated repairs, including work after 1996 flood damage and major decay found in 2015.
