Phoenix Peak is a 13,902-foot summit in the La Garita Mountains of south-central Colorado, in Rio Grande National Forest north-northwest of Creede. It lies on the boundary of Mineral County and the La Garita Wilderness in Saguache County and is the highest point in Mineral County. Although Phoenix Peak is a proposed rather than officially established name, the mountain has also been called Gwynedd Mountain and Creede Crest. It is recognized as one of Colorado’s highest unnamed summits and is notable for its setting in the rugged high country above the upper Rio Grande region.
