Whitecrow Glacier
Nature
Whitecrow Glacier is a glacier in Glacier National Park, Montana, immediately east of Mount Cleveland at an average elevation of about 7,000 feet. Set in a cirque, it is not a single unbroken body of ice but a group of numerous ice patches covering about 48 acres. Its recent history mirrors the wider retreat of glaciers across the park: between 1966 and 2005, it lost more than 47 percent of its surface area. Though small, it stands as a clear example of the long-term glacier shrinkage that has reshaped the park’s high mountain landscape.
