Miche Wabun Glacier
Nature
Miche Wabun Glacier is a small glacier remnant in the northeastern part of Glacier National Park in Montana, occupying a cirque east of Goat Haunt Mountain. By 2010, it had shrunk to less than 25 acres, or about 0.10 square kilometers, near the minimum size considered necessary for an active glacier. Its decline was dramatic between 1966 and 2005, when it lost more than 55 percent of its surface area. That reduction makes it a clear example of the long-term retreat affecting the park’s ice features.
