The “Golden Acorn” Division was reactivated at Camp McCain, Mississippi, on December 15, 1942, and trained here in 1943. The Division distinguished itself in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe during the Battle of the Bulge, the assault of the Sauer, Moselle and Rhine Rivers, the capture of Coblenz, the cracking of the Siegfried Line, and the final assault into Czechoslovakia.
