Invoking the words, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” this memorial honors the spirit of the Vietnam veteran and remembers SSgt James C Dorsi of 1/18th Armored Cav A Troop, Sgt Herbert M Hart of the 389th Combat Engineers, Sgt James T Maloney of 1/7th Cav A Company, and Sp/4 Raymond Rudd of 1/18th Armored Cav A Troop. It also honors three young servicemen buried in the Guadalupe Cemetery: Pfc Arturo Carrasco of Company A, 1st Battalion (Mechanized), 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, born August 4, 1946, died June 9, 1969; Spec. 4 Phillip Hernandez of Company C, 4th Battalion, 198th Infantry Division, born January 9, 1948, died May 14, 1969; and Pfc Michael Pagaling of Co B, 5 Mar, 1 Mar Div., born July 21, 1949, died January 2, 1969, killed in action in Vietnam.
