Built about 1668 in Georgetown, Massachusetts, the Brocklebank–Nelson–Beecher House is among the town’s oldest surviving buildings and preserves more than three centuries of local history. Captain Samuel Brocklebank, an English immigrant and surveyor, likely built it after receiving the property and marrying; he later died in 1676 at Sudbury during King Philip’s War. The house remained with his family until it became a tavern under Dudley Tyler and then Solomon Nelson. In 1858 it passed to Reverend Charles Beecher, linking it to the Beecher family. Now a nonprofit museum, it presents an early eighteenth-century appearance and exhibits journals, period furnishings, and a backyard shoe shop display.
