Deerwood Arboretum and Nature Area
Nature
Deerwood Arboretum and Nature Area in Brentwood, Tennessee, is a twenty-seven-acre city park and arboretum along the Little Harpeth River that blends a botanical collection with public green space. Once Brentwood’s sewage treatment plant until the early 1980s, the site was converted into a park in 1992, transforming former utility land into a nature-focused public area. Today it features more than sixty tree species, walking trails, an outdoor classroom, restrooms, an observation deck, and a small amphitheater. Its importance comes from this change from municipal infrastructure to a riverside place for recreation, education, and quiet enjoyment of the landscape.
