Bolton Mountain, in Chittenden County, Vermont, rises just south of Mount Mayo and is crossed at its summit by the Long Trail, the 272-mile hiking route that runs the length of the state. It lies within the Lake Champlain watershed, and its slopes feed several different drainage systems that ultimately reach the lake. Runoff from the northeast side passes by Miller Brook to the Little River and the Winooski, while the southeast side drains by Cotton Brook. The south end flows by Joiner Brook to the Winooski, the west side by Mill Brook, and the northwest side by the Lee River and Browns River to the Lamoille.
