Clarion County lost twelve Vietnam veterans in the war: Joseph Torzok, Robert J. Black, Lloyd A. Himes, Doyle L. Butler, Jr., Valentine A. Ochs, Andrew T. Brown, Ronald E. Knight, Ronald E. Dascombe, Jr., Gary G. Gray, Lawrence N. Dubia, Terry L. Henry, and Richard C. Alexander, who gave their lives in freedom's cause between June 8, 1966, and September 11, 1970. Their sacrifice is remembered with an appeal to keep a place for them within oneself, to look back for the places they can no longer go, to speak openly of love for them, to carry forward what they left and taught in dying, and to embrace the gentle heroes left behind.
