The Williamsville Covered Bridge in Newfane, Vermont, carries Dover Road over the Rock River just west of Williamsville. Probably built in the 1870s, it is a Town lattice truss bridge and is thought to be the oldest covered bridge in Windham County. Measuring 118 feet long and 21 feet wide, it was built for a single lane of traffic and still retains its historic appearance, with vertical board siding and a metal roof, despite later replacement of its wooden roadway supports with steel beams and paving of the roadbed. As Newfane’s last historic covered bridge, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
