Towers of the Virgin
Nature
The Towers of the Virgin are a group of towering sandstone monoliths on the west side of Zion Canyon in Zion National Park, Utah, and rank among the canyon’s most prominent formations on the Colorado Plateau. Rather than a single summit, the formation consists of a chain of named towers extending from south to northeast, including the Sundial, Witch Head, Broken Tooth, Rotten Tooth, Altar of Sacrifice, Meridian Tower, Bee Hive, and the Sentinel. The cluster has also been known as Rock Rovers' Land and Temples of the Virgen, and it stood within the original boundaries of Zion National Monument. The area has a cold semi-arid climate with less than ten inches of annual precipitation and generally light winter snowfall.
