Cedar Hill State Park is a Texas state park on the eastern shore of Joe Pool Lake in Cedar Hill, southwest of Dallas, blending lakeside recreation with preserved local agricultural history. Acquired in 1982 and opened in 1991, it offers camping, boating, picnicking, fishing, and an extensive trail system. Within the park, the Penn Farm Agricultural History Center preserves a farm established by John Wesley Penn in 1859, where ranching was the main activity and the Penn family remained until 1970. The park also lies at the meeting of the cross timbers and blackland prairie, supporting varied habitats and more than 200 bird species.
