Jacksonville Presbyterian Church was established in this building in 1850 as the first church built in the town. Henry Dillon constructed the building using plans from an 1830’s book, “Practical House Carpenter,” by Asher Benjamin, and used handmade bricks made nearby that can be seen in the front portion of the building. The building has been in continuous use since its construction. In the 1850’s and 60’s, Jacksonville’s Methodist congregation shared the building. After the Presbyterians moved to a new building, it was privately purchased and used for many purposes, including an art gallery and a slot track racing venue. Since 1992, the Floyd Masonic Lodge #329 A.F. & A.M. has owned the building.
