Castle Creek Wilderness is a protected area in Arizona’s Prescott National Forest at the southern end of the Bradshaw Mountains, established in 1984. Its terrain rises from about 2,800 to 7,000 feet, creating striking changes in vegetation from saguaro cactus, palo verde, and mesquite in the lower south to chaparral at mid elevations and ponderosa pine, Arizona oak, and alligator juniper higher up. From Juniper Ridge in the north, high points look east toward the Agua Fria River. The wilderness also supports diverse wildlife, including mule deer, javelina, mountain lions, bobcats, black bears, and coyotes.
