The first building erected for high school students in Barnesville served the community from 1905 until 1970. Ground was broken for Barnesville High School on June 10, 1905, at the corner of West Church and Broadway, and the new $43,340.00 structure was dedicated September 3, 1906. After high school students transferred to the new Shamrock Drive facility in September 1970, the building was partially used for the elementary and junior high schools. Demolished in July 1984, it was replaced by the elementary school addition. After several failed attempts, the local school board sold bonds to build the Junior High School, which went up in 1925-26. The building also included a combination gymnasium-auditorium seating 650. The building was demolished in 2002 after the new Middle School opened on Grange Hall Road.
