Twin Peaks is a 13,341-foot summit in central Colorado's Sawatch Range, part of the Collegiate Peaks, rising steeply above the Twin Lakes area on San Isabel National Forest land. About eight miles east of the Continental Divide, it towers 3,740 feet above Lake Creek within 1.5 miles, giving it striking local relief. Water from its slopes drains into Lake Creek, a tributary of the Arkansas River. Nearby are Mount Elbert to the north and Rinker Peak to the southwest. Its alpine subarctic climate brings cold, snowy winters, cool to warm summers, year-round precipitation, frequent summer thunderstorms, and late-summer monsoon weather that shapes travel in the high country.
