Rinker Peak is a 13,789-foot mountain in central Colorado’s Collegiate Peaks of the Sawatch Range, near Twin Lakes and east of the Continental Divide. Although it is Colorado’s 114th-highest summit, it is especially notable for its steep local relief, rising about 4,100 feet above Lake Creek in only two miles. Lake Creek drains its slopes into the Arkansas River, and Mount Elbert stands a few miles to the north. The peak was named for Robert Lee Rinker, who lived at its base for 52 years, and the United States Board on Geographic Names officially adopted the name on June 11, 1987.
