Weepah Spring Wilderness
Nature
Weepah Spring Wilderness in Nevada covers 51,480 acres of the Seaman Range, about 35 miles north of Alamo in Lincoln and Nye counties. Managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, it preserves a varied Great Basin landscape of isolated peaks, maze-like canyons, fossil-bearing rock walls, natural arches, volcanic hoodoos, and Timber Mountain rather than a single dominant ridgeline. It also contains the largest stand of ponderosa pine in eastern Nevada. Within the wilderness, the White River Narrows Archaeological District holds one of Nevada’s largest and best-known concentrations of petroglyphs, along with shelter caves, hunting blinds, and campsites, with some rock art dating back about 4,000 years.
