Starvation Creek State Park is a small park in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge, west of Hood River, centered on Starvation Creek. A small waterfall and a hiking trailhead make it an easy stopping place within the gorge. Its striking name comes from a local story that a train was halted there by snow drifts and passengers had to dig it out, though no documented starvation occurred. The site is significant today chiefly for its convenient access to a waterfall and trails in one of Oregon’s best-known river canyons.
