The Rockwell Road to Greylock was built in 1906-7 by the county commissioners of Berkshire. It was named for Francis W. Rockwell of Pittsfield, one of the original Greylock commissioners appointed in 1898 by Governor Roger Wolcott, who served as chairman from 1910 to 1925.
