Bartlett Peak is an 8,519-foot limestone summit in the Guadalupe Mountains of far West Texas, within Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and ranks as the fourth-highest peak in the range, the park, Culberson County, and the state. It rises more than 4,500 feet above Salt Basin in only three miles, and its slopes drain west to Salt Basin and east to the Delaware River in the Pecos watershed. Officially named in 1938 for boundary commissioner John Russell Bartlett, who traveled here in the 1850s and published an early description of the Guadalupe Mountains in 1854, the peak is usually admired from afar because no standard trail reaches its summit.
