Bush Mountain
Nature
Bush Mountain is a high summit in the Guadalupe Mountains of far West Texas, rising 8,631 feet to become the state's second-highest peak. Within Guadalupe Mountains National Park, it stands about 2.87 miles northwest of Guadalupe Peak, the only nearby summit that is higher. Its 951-foot prominence makes it one of Texas's more distinct mountains despite not being the highest. The summit lies in the Guadalupe Mountains Wilderness, where access is limited to non-motorized travel. Hikers reach it by the Bush Mountain Trail from Pine Springs or Dog Canyon; from Pine Springs, the one-way hike is about 6.7 miles. A backcountry campground sits below the southeast side, and a National Park Service radio repeater stands on top.
