John and Ann Batty, immigrants from England associated with Nyesville by 1844 and this location circa 1866, were the owners and operators of the Batty Mine. John and Ann Batty were the parents of Charlie and the grandparents of John, Frank, Harold, and Charles. Their family line also included great-granddaughter Winifred, daughter of Harold.
