This memorial honors local sons and daughters whose sacrifice was cherished as part of preserving America's freedom in the Spanish American War from 1898 to 1902 and in World War I from 1917 to 1918. It names veterans of the Spanish American War and, for World War I, both honored dead and veterans, and calls for their courageous deeds and the liberty and humanity won by brave souls and vigilantly guarded to live on with increased strength and spirit for all ages to come.
