Whinnimic Falls
Nature
Whinnimic Falls is a waterfall at the headwaters of Lemah Creek in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area, in a narrow valley below Lemah Mountain. One of two waterfalls in the valley, it stands beside the smaller Upper Lemah Valley Falls. Its water drops about 350 feet over a vertical cliff to a valley floor of ponds and grassy meadows. Fed by two tarns and the remains of a small glacier, it has a notably alpine character. Climber and guidebook author Fred Beckey recorded the name in the Cascade Alpine Guide, though the name’s origin remains unknown.
