Dedicated on September 6, 2008, the Redington Beach Twin Towers Memorial at Friendship Park was designed by Vladimir A. Hostomsky. Its two glass columns represent the World Trade Center towers, and chips of broken glass signify the broken hearts of the American people. An eternal illumination inside the columns symbolizes that September 11, 2001 will never be forgotten. The Pentagon is represented by the pentagon-shaped base leading up to the columns. Seven steps represent the seven continents of the world, and the circular garden around the sculpture represents the world, while the blooming flowers symbolize eternal love and life.
