Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church stood on this site after being consecrated on October 17, 1933, by the Reverend John Morris, Bishop of Little Rock. Built in the Romanesque Revival style with the help of parishioners, it replaced the previous church, Saint Roman's, which had burned down in 1896. For 84 years, the church served the community through religious and outreach programs until it closed on October 1, 2017, after the congregation had outgrown the building. Features including the Stations of the Cross, pews, and stained-glass windows were preserved and incorporated into the construction of the successor church building at 1107 East Highland Drive.
