The Springerville volcanic field is a vast monogenetic volcanic landscape in east-central Arizona between Springerville and Show Low, made up of many separate eruption sites rather than one mountain. Near the western end of the Jemez Lineament, it includes about 405 vents across roughly 3,000 square kilometers and an estimated erupted volume of 90 cubic kilometers, making it the third-largest monogenetic volcanic field in the continental United States. Its northwestern area contains the St. Johns carbon dioxide reservoir, a major energy resource that has prompted proposals for helium extraction, carbon dioxide transport for oil recovery, and geothermal energy use.
