John A. Minetto State Park is a 715-acre public recreation area in Goshen and Torrington in northwestern Connecticut. Managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, it supports low-key activities such as picnicking, fishing, and cross-country skiing. The park originated in a flood-control project led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. After completion of Hall Meadow Brook Dam in 1962, the land passed to state management and opened as Hall Meadow State Park. In 1972, it was renamed for Torrington state senator John A. Minetto, connecting its recreational use with its earlier engineering purpose.
